Unitree G1 EDU Ultimate Technical Specifications - RoboStore

Dimensions and Build:

The Unitree G1 measures approximately

  • 1.32 m tall,
  • 0.45 m wide,
  • 0.20 m thick when standing (1320×450×200 mm).

Impressively, it folds down to about 0.69 m tall for transport. Constructed with high-strength materials and industrial-grade crossed roller bearings at its joints, the G1’s build prioritizes precision and load capacity. Weighing roughly 35 kg including the battery, the robot maintains a slim form without sacrificing strength.

Degrees of Freedom (DOF):

The G1’s agility comes from its numerous joint motors. The base G1 model provides 23 degrees of freedom (6 per leg, 5 per arm, plus waist). The EDU Ultimate version expands this dramatically; up to 43 DOF total – by adding advanced components like multi-jointed hands and extra waist and wrist. In the Ultimate configuration, each leg still has 6 DOF, but the waist gains 2 additional axes (3 DOF total) and each arm gains a wrist with 2 axes plus a dexterous hand with 7 DOF. This yields human-like kinematics, enabling complex movements and manipulations.

Actuators and Power:

All joints are driven by high-torque permanent magnet synchronous motors (PMSMs) known for fast response and efficient heat dissipation. The G1 EDU’s knee actuators can deliver up to 120 N·m of torque, significantly higher than the base model’s 90 N·m, for powerful and stable locomotion. Each arm can handle loads of about 3 kg in the Ultimate version, enabling the robot to lift small objects or tools. A rechargeable 13-cell lithium-ion battery (9000 mAh) powers the unit, providing roughly 2 hours of operation per charge. The battery is a quick-release smart battery for easy swapping, and the robot’s power system supports local air cooling to keep the motors and electronics at optimal temperatures.

Onboard Computing:

At the heart of the G1 is an 8-core high-performance CPU that handles real-time control and sensor processing. The EDU Ultimate package further includes an NVIDIA Jetson Orin module – a 100 TOPS AI computing unit – as a high-power co-processor for AI tasks. This combination allows the G1 to perform heavy computations like vision processing, speech recognition, and reinforcement learning inference directly on-board. Wireless connectivity via Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2 is built-in, ensuring high-speed communication and remote control capabilities. The robot also features an OTA upgrade system for intelligent firmware updates over the air.
