The R1 EDU expands upon the R1 EDU Standard with significant performance and flexibility upgrades, making it the ideal platform for advanced research and secondary development in humanoid robotics. Featuring a total of 26 degrees of freedom, including 2 DOF in the head, the R1 EDU Smart offers a greater range of expressive and perceptive motion for AI-driven interaction, manipulation, and spatial analysis.
Product Description
Introducing the R1 EDU, a compact humanoid robot built for active research, software development, and educational programs that require onboard computing power. Powered by an NVIDIA Jetson Orin NX at 40 Tops and a high performance 8 core CPU, the R1 EDU is the entry point into secondary development on the Unitree R1 platform, giving developers and researchers direct access to the robot's control stack for custom motion, perception, and behavior pipelines.
With 26 degrees of freedom, a binocular vision system, and full secondary development support, the R1 EDU is designed for teams ready to go beyond remote operation and start building. At approximately 25 kg and 121 cm tall, it brings serious compute and humanoid capability in a compact, lab ready frame.
Key Features of the R1 EDU
- Onboard AI Compute: NVIDIA Jetson Orin NX at 40 Tops enables real time inference and custom model deployment directly on the robot.
- Full Secondary Development Support: Open access to the R1 control stack for custom motion planning, behavior development, and sensor integration.
- 26 Degrees of Freedom: Includes 6 per leg, 5 per arm, 2 waist joints, and a 2 DOF articulated head for expanded perception range.
- Integrated Vision System: Humanoid binocular camera provides real time depth perception for navigation and object recognition tasks.
- Lightweight, Portable Frame: At approximately 25 kg with battery and 121 cm tall, the R1 EDU is compact and transport ready for lab, classroom, and field environments.
- Modular Power System: Quick release lithium battery delivers approximately 1 hour of operation.
